Ricochet Robots is one of our favorite games.
Four robots are scattered about a warehouse floor. There's only one problem: they have no brakes. Players must try to find a way to get one of the robots to a target location using walls and other robots as obstacles. Whoever can come up with the shortest solution wins a point.
This game can literally be played by as many people as can crowd around the board.
If you've ever seen this game being played you may have thought the game was boring. What you'll typically see is a crowd of people, staring at a board and saying nothing. Eventually the silence will be broken as someone says "eight". Then heads will nod and someone will say "Oh yeah, I see that". Then someone else might say "six" and everyone will look at him in surprise and admiration. Then they'll stare at the board even harder in an attempt to solve the path in five or less.
It may sound boring but I guarantee you that you'll find it anything but.
