Introduction

Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in our games!

Who We Are

House Full of Games is owned and operated by Steve Blanding. Steve is a lifelong gamer who has been writing all sorts of code professionally (and unprofessionally) since 1980.

House Full of Games was originally started in the early 2000s as an on-line board game store. In 2010 Steve released the first of his games to the iOS App Store (Mü) under the House Full of Games business name. Since then several other apps followed.

The on-line board game store has since closed but the apps thrive.

Why Is This Policy Here?

Unfortunately, in this world there are more than a few slimy people whom you shouldn’t trust. We sincerely hope to convince you that we aren’t one of them.

We would like to earn your trust by being as transparent as possible about who we are and what we will do with the information that you make available to us. We are committed to maintaining your privacy and acting responsibly.

This policy (together with our terms of use and any other documents referred to in them) sets out the basis on which we will use, store, collect, disclose and transfer (process) your data.

Whenever we ask for permission to process data that belongs to you, such as an email address, a name, and so on, please understand that you can always decline to give it. Should you choose to share with us, we promise to be as careful with that information as possible and never to use it in any way that we believe could harm you.

Changes to this Policy

We may need to update this Policy at any time to reflect changes in our business. At the bottom of this page, you will find a date when we last updated this page. You may refer to that from time to time if you wish to be made aware of any changes. Unfortunately, it is not feasible for us to attempt to contact our customers directly but we may choose to notify customers of changes directly in-app should any significant changes warrant such notification.

Children

All of our content is intended to be family friendly. That being said, we do not specifically target children in any way.

Our apps are sold on various marketplaces (such as the iOS App Store, Steam, and the Google Play Store) and the conditions for sale fall under the terms and conditions imposed by those platforms. We impose no age requirements beyond those imposed by those marketplaces.

What do we collect and why do we need to use it?

What information do we collect?

We occasionally collect information about you which you choose to share with us. This is information that you give directly to us when you:

  • create an account on one of our gaming servers
  • sign up to receive our newsletters or promotions
  • send us email to ask questions or ask for support
  • fill in a form on one of our websites

In all of those cases, it should be obvious what information we are collecting and why we need it. Generally it is so we have some way of getting in touch with you and providing you with information you have requested. In the case of a gaming account, it is so that we have a way of identifying you and providing you with the gaming experiences you expect (such as could saves and multiplayer functionality).

Whenever we collect information from you it is with the specific purpose for which you have provided it to us. We will never use your information in any way that could be considered dishonest, disingenuous, malicious, or otherwise “bad”. That’s just not who we are.

Here are some examples of the kind of information that we are talking about:

  • Identity Data – data that identifies who you are (your name, title, date of birth and gender). We typically do not need this kind of information and if you should choose to provide it (say as part of an email transaction) we will keep it only so that we can maintain a record of how we have helped you in the past.
  • Contact Data (the information you give us to contact you like your billing address, e-mail address and phone number) – We do not typically collect your billing information. That is handled by the various marketplaces that sell our apps for us. We will only see your email or phone number if you should choose to share it with us.
  • Marketing Preferences Data (the options you have chosen to receive marketing and communications from us) – We do not currently have a newsletter or send out marketing material to customers but we might choose to do that in the future. Should we at some time decide to do that, we would only email people who have explicitly opted in to receive such communications from us.
  • Location Data – Our apps do not use Location Data.

Analytics Data

This web site may collect “analytics data” used to analyze the effectiveness of the site, get a rough idea of who is using it and where they might have come from. These analytics are collected by Google Analytics, a web service provided by Google, Inc. Like all web analytics services, Google may place cookies (small digital files) on your device that enable them to provide us with reports about who is using our web site and how they are using it. This information is always provided to us in aggregated form and is not personally identifiable information. We do not explicitly know who you are, what your ip address is, or anything about you. Google merely tells us things like, “Hey! Here’s how many people have logged on to your site and navigated to these pages.”

If that bothers you, you may refuse these analytics cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser or on our cookies banner or by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Sensitive Data

We do not collect any data about you that could be “protected” or “sensitive” such as race, creed, sexual orientation, or political affiliation.

Camera and Photos

None of our apps will ask to access your camera.

Do we share your personal information with any third parties?

The short answer is “no”.

The various app marketplaces that we use (for example: the iOS App Store, Google Play Store, and Steam) do, of course, collect information necessary to collect payments from you but that information is not directly shared with us. All we know is that you are using one of our apps and therefore it is assumed that you have paid for it.

We never receive or process your bank card or bank account data. We may receive limited data about you from these platforms regarding your account or registration and this will vary according to their service so please review their privacy terms if this is something that bothers you.

Game Servers/Overseas Data

If you have created an account on one of our game servers, that data will be stored on the server for purposes of identifying you and connecting you to whatever data is necessary for the functionality of the game. This data is typically used to provide you with services such as these:

  • cloud saves
  • leaderboard positions
  • in-game statistics
  • in-game awards and trophies

In addition, these services may include aggregated statistical information such as how many people are playing one of our games, and how often they play. This information helps us scale our infrastructure so that we can ensure that we are providing a quality service to you, our customer.

Our game servers may be located in various locations which may or may not be within your home country’s jurisdiction. We may occasionally need to transfer your data between countries in order to continue to provide that support. Wherever we store or transfer your data, we are committed to ensuring that there are adequate safeguards in place to protect that data.

Of course, most of the data that we collect on these servers is of no use to anyone outside of our apps. The one obvious exception to this would be in the case where you may have used an email address to log into our servers. Of course we promise to safeguard that information and only use it to connect you to your game data.

How long do we retain your personal data?

We only retain your personal data for as long as it takes to provide the intended purpose for which it was collected. If your account goes inactive for a long period of time, we will delete whatever data you have shared with us except where retention is necessary to enforce our legal rights, or to comply with any laws or regulations.

We will generally regard you as an inactive user if you remain a registered user of the app or if you have not opened any email communication from us or interacted in any way with us for a period of at least two years.

If you wish for us to delete your data earlier than that, you may make that request by contacting us directly at support@housefullofgames.com.
