Krayola Express

The Pinewood Derby Professionals

What We Provide

Our track is a professionally made three lane pinewood derby track.

It’s 30 feet long with a vertical drop of just under four feet.

The track has a digital timer which accurately times racers to over 1/1000th of a second.

Times are tracked on an Excel spreadsheet backed with custom code that allows it to read the times directly from the timer. This speeds up data entry, minimizes that chance for error, and allows for great flexibility. No more arguments about which car is the fastest! The timer removes all room for doubt.

Times are projected on a screen as they are entered so the entire audience can follow the action throughout the event. We will provide the screen and the projector as well as the means of hooking it all up and ensuring the projector is in the proper position.

We also will bring materials for setting up a crowd control barrier.

What We Need From You

If we are asked to supply our track for your event, we’ll ask you to give us access to the facility one hour before the event. That will give us plenty of time to set up the track along with a low, unobtrusive crowd control barrier. Setup usually takes about 30 minutes but it helps to have the extra time just in case.

Facilities need to be indoors, have at least one electrical outlet (two or more is better) and a clear space large enough for a 30′ track and your spectators.

We will need a table large enough to hold all of the cars (most facilities will have one of these on site).

You will need to provide any chairs, trophies, decorations, or refreshments that you want to have at the event.

You should also provide your own scale for ensuring cars comply with weight restrictions. We’ve found that different scales may measure slightly differently and it is always better if your racers have access to an official scale before the event.
